I am always on the lookout for health related apps. Usually, I run across the same types of apps that have a minimal impact on my life. This time I was in for a refreshing change. With Posture Mama, you get help maintaining a good posture all day long. Just like my mom used to do. All you have to do is set the time of day and how often you want to be alerted and your set. There is no extra hardware to purchase, and nothing complicated to configure. You will be able to track your posture, log your results, and even share your results on Facebook.
Why is good posture so important?
There are many reasons why having a good posture is beneficial, but I will highlight the top three that I have found.
1.Facilitates breathing: A good posture naturally enables you to breathe properly. There is a big difference in the amount of air you can inhale when sitting up straight compared to slouching.
2. Increases in concentration and mental ability: When breathing properly, you will increase your mental ability too. Our brain requires 20% of our oxygen intake to do its job properly. More air, more oxygen. More oxygen, more brain fuel.
3. Avoid health complications: A bad posture results in several complications over time, such as increased risks of a slipped disc, backaches, back pain, and poor blood circulation just to name a few.
As a way of using the app and making things fun my fiancée and I have a competition where whoever has the worst posture for the day has to cook dinner. Unfortunately for me I have lost more, but overall it is good fun and good for me. I highly suggest this app to anyone looking to stay healthy.
